Pick 7 artists/bands that you love in no order before reading the questions:
Young the Giant
What was the first song you ever heard by 1? Strings
What is your favorite song of 7? All time favorite: Chasing Pavements Current favorite: Someone Like You
What are your favorite lyrics of 5? "If you are the sun, then I want to be the moon. I want to reflect the light that shines from you." (Sun and Moon)
What is your favorite song by 6? None But Jesus
When did you first get into 5? I think I really started getting into his music when I first heard him live at a Harvest Crusade back in 2007.
How did you get into 3? I’ve been listening to Coldplay since elementary school. I can’t remember exactly how I got into their music, but I do remember that they were definitely one of the first bands I ever really liked.
What is your favorite song by 4? It’s between How To Save A Life and You Found Me.
What is a good memory concerning 2? The Strokes. I’ve been a huge fan since middle school. I anticipated their Angles album like crazy. I counted down the months, then days, then hours. I listened to it like an obsessed Justin Bieber fan. Obsessed. I also met a lot of my friends because of The Strokes. Like my friend Brandon. He was wearing a Strokes shirt when I first saw him. Anybody who likes The Strokes is automatically cool in my book (unless that person also likes Big Time Rush).
What is your favorite song of 1? Hardest question ever. The one that has the most plays in my iTunes is Strings (which is also the first song I ever heard by them). So, I’d say that one’s my all time favorite. Seeing them perform that song live made my life. Love, love, love Young the Giant.
Christmas Eve: We had our family Christmas party at my house this year. It was sooo intense. The house was packed with family and presents. So many presents. So many presents. We watched tv, played games, ate stuff, sang songs, ate pie, and started opening presents at 8. Yeah, that’s when you know you’re Mexican (opening presents on Christmas Eve). Life is so good. All the kids got a bunch of presents and we did this huge family gift exchange and it was beautiful. The gift opening ended at 10:45. Yeah. 2 hours and 45 minutes of presents. Wrapping paper everywhere. Afterwards, we headed over to my mom’s old friend’s house. I hadn’t seen them since I was a little kid. It’s funny how much changes over the years and how much remains the same. P.S. My mom got me my first ring. It’s beautiful.
Christmas Day: My sister, my mom, and I went to Kevin Somoza’s church!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeeee. It was so wonderful. He was all dressed up and I was all dressed up and he looked handsome and his shoes were so beautiful and he had on this cool watch that he got for Christmas and some great smelling cologne and I died and came back to life. After church, he gave me a huge Christmas bag filled with amazingly beautiful things (4 novels, 3 shirts, and 11 pairs of socks) and he gave my sister a gift (he gave my mom, stepdad, uncle, and brother a gift a couple days ago). He is so thoughtful and wonderful and humble and sweet and he makes me feel so happy. After that, we headed over to his house and had dinner with his beautiful family. They’re all soooo great. Wow. Today was such a great day. He’s amazing and I’ve never been happier.
Thank you, Jesus, for blessing me with a beautiful family, Kevin “The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me” Somoza, a roof over my head, food on my table, prescription glasses (THANK YOU, JESUS), warm blankets, electricity, a bed, purified water, and everything else that I take for granted at times.
I got accepted into San Diego State University aka SDSU. Pretty awesome because it’s my top Cal State choice. My absolute top choice is UCLA (of course). Reading that acceptance letter made me kind of nervous. Life moves so fast. I can’t believe I’ll be going to college next year.
